Kayadu Lohar has now done three films in Telugu cinema, and none of them has given her the success she needed. From her debut with Sree Vishnu to her biggest opportunity yet with Nani’s The Paradise, the young actress is still waiting for her first real breakthrough in Tollywood.
A Debut That Went Unnoticed
Kayadu made her Telugu debut with Sree Vishnu’s Alluri in 2022. The police drama failed massively at the box office, and the result left her with no new offers in Telugu. For a debutante, it was a tough start, and Tollywood moved on quickly.
Dragon Changed Everything, Almost
Her career turned around in Tamil. Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dragon in 2025 became a big blockbuster, and Kayadu became one of the most talked about young heroines in South cinema overnight.
That success brought her back to Telugu immediately. She was signed for Funky, a comedy entertainer starring Vishwak Sen and directed by Anudeep KV of Jathi Ratnalu fame. With that combination, the film looked like a safe bet.
It was not. Funky released in February 2026 and failed miserably at the box office, closing well below its budget. Her natural performance did get some appreciation, but a flop film does very little for a heroine’s career, and her second Telugu chance also went to waste.
The Paradise: Her Biggest Opportunity
Then came the biggest opportunity of her career so far. Kayadu was cast opposite Nani in The Paradise, directed by Srikanth Odela of Dasara fame. With massive hype, a big budget and Nani at the peak of his market, this was expected to be her big turn in Telugu cinema.
The film did post big numbers. Riding on the hype and Nani’s stardom, The Paradise became Nani’s career highest grosser, closing around ₹170 Cr worldwide. But it did not turn out to be a success, as the content failed to meet expectations and buyers ended with losses in several areas.
For Kayadu, it was even worse. She got nothing from the film’s big numbers. Instead, her role and portrayal drew more criticism, and she could not make the impact a film of this scale should have given her.
What Next for Kayadu in Telugu?
Three films, three different kinds of failure. Alluri flopped, Funky flopped, and The Paradise, despite its numbers, did nothing for her. In Telugu cinema, where heroines are often judged by their last result, this is a worrying run.
Kayadu still has her Tamil success with Dragon and a growing fan base on her side. But to make it big in Tollywood, she now needs the right script and a role that gives her real scope. Her next Telugu choice will be very important.
